what to expect
Benefits
Scar tissue release therapy can help with:
- Reducing pain and discomfort
- Improving circulation and blood flow
- Improving joint mobility
- Reducing scar visibility
- Improving posture
- Improving athletic performance
When to get it
Scar tissue release therapy can be performed on scars that are at least 8 weeks old, but can also be effective on older scars. It can also be used on areas where there was an injury but no visible scar, like muscle tears.
The treatment is about freeing up scar tissue / tight fascia /muscles – physically and mentally ( sometimes we’re hanging on to our scar /fascia due to trauma or fear/sadness ) I work with you and the body to release the scar, adhesions , tight fascia, using trigger point, deep tissue and very gentle touch to move the blocked lymph /tissue , which allows for the body’s own inherent ability to heal . In some instances tremoring is used to help the nervous system release long term ‘fight or flight’.
KATE MACGREGOR
Specialised Body Therapist
Kate is a highly skilled therapist specializing in Scar Tissue Release Therapy—a transformative approach for those dealing with trauma and scarring. With over two decades of experience, she combines a deep understanding of the body, emotions and hands on healing techniques to deliver life-changing results.
Her background reveals her innate gift for reading both the body and emotions, illustrating their profound interconnectedness. She launched her massage practice immediately after earning her Diploma in Therapeutic Massage and Remedial Therapies (2005) and Diploma in Yoga and Yoga Therapy (2008/ 2009) from Wellpark College. Working within the dynamic environment of JustWorkout Gym in Takapuna, she gained extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions, from sports injuries and post-event recovery to general wellness.
Constantly expanding her expertise, Kate added Reiki (2009), Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral Therapy (2013), and Release Therapy (2024) to her repertoire. Her unique approach helps clients reconnect with their bodies, ease discomfort, improve flexibility, enhance performance, and promote overall well being.
Now a sought-after Scar Tissue Release Therapist, Kate offers specialized treatments for medical and trauma-induced scarring, including oncology-related scarring and lymphatic cording. With a deep understanding of how scars disrupt lymphatic flow and fascial mobility, creating adhesions that limit movement and hinder healing, she works to release these restrictions and restore the body’s natural balance and flow.
Kate’s personal journey with breast cancer has given her profound empathy and unique insight into the healing process. She brings a calm, trauma-informed presence to each session, creating a safe space where clients can activate their body’s innate wisdom and promote deep, lasting healing.
Based in north Auckland, Kate offers in-clinic sessions and mobile services across the wider Auckland region, New Zealand, and internationally.
